Abstract

Actually, there are many methods for teaching English. One way is to use learning tools or
media accompanied by visualization, also known as audio-visual learning. Students who learn
to use audio-visual aids will find it easier to digest the problems presented.Because listeners
are stimulated to use their imagination and optimize their brain function, be it the left brain or
the right brain, To remember the language, they learn longer.
The type of research used by researchers is classroom action research (CAR) with a qualitative
approach. this Classroom Action research is in the form of a cycle covering the stages
including: a) Planning, b) Implementation, c) Observation, ) Reflection.
Research Results Show: (1) The application of audio-visual media in improving the English
speaking skills of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sambung Makmur is well
implemented starting from planning, implementation, observation and reflection. (2) The
application of audio visual media can improve the English speaking skills of seventh grade
students at SMP Negeri 1 Sambung Makmur with a final completion percentage of 86% with
18 students whose scores passed the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) and there were
only 3 students whose scores were still below the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) target.
